The Learning Content Inspector is primarily responsible for writing learning content. The Learning Content Inspector is also responsible for reviewing learning materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, functionality, and ease of use. Moreover, the Learning Content Inspector provides recommendations to other Learning Experience Design workstreams during the end-to-end development of learning materials. These recommendations aim to improve the quality of learning materials produced by the team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The Learning Content Inspector will:
Develop learning content.
Coordinate with Learning Experience Designers to draft content aligned with prescribed learning objectives.
Interview and consult with subject matter experts to gather content and transform them into highly readable and engaging learning materials.
Identify, assess, and leverage available references (such as client-developed learning materials, process documents, online publications, online articles, etc.) to gather accurate and relevant content.
Write facilitator guides to instruct trainers on proper facilitation of a course.
Write job aids, user guides, and process documents to instruct learners on the use of tools or guide them in following a process.
Write scripts and storyboards to be used as basis in developing podcasts, videos, and interactive lessons.
Write email blasts and text for web use to promote lessons and encourage learners to consume the learning content published by the Learning Experience Design team.
Write assessments to evaluate if learning objectives have been met.
Work with instructional writers and media developers to maintain quality in all produced learning materials.
Review scripts, storyboards, wireframes, documents (FG, process document, etc.) and communication (email blasts, descriptions for online use) drafts to evaluate and provide recommendations on accuracy, consistency, and level of engagement.
Review developed content (podcasts, user guides, comic strips, interactive lessons, etc.) and provide recommendations on accuracy (storyboard adherence), level of engagement (course interactions), and functionality and ease of use (navigation).
Proofread materials using the in-team style guide (based on the Chicago Manual of Style and Microsoft Manual of Style) as basis.
Assist other Learning Content Inspectors and Learning Experience Designers in editing content for correct grammar, syntax, word use, style, consistency, and accuracy.
Evaluate Learning Content Inspectors and Learning Experience Designers’ output against set quality standards.
Evaluate submissions and provide objective ratings based on the team’s Quality scorecard.
Participate in calibration sessions to ensure objectivity in rating.
Identify opportunities and lead initiatives to improve the team’s processes and output.
Analyze the team’s opportunities in writing and developing learning materials.
Maintain the team’s style guide by regularly reviewing, updating, and adding standards based on observed errors.
Draft project-specific style guides to guide project team members in writing campaign-specific content.
Plan for learning sessions.
Facilitate learning sessions.
Accomplish administrative tasks to help drive projects to timely and quality completion.
Maintain task and project trackers.
Participate in project meetings.
Provide updates to project team members.
Lead projects
Draft lesson outlines
Plot and scope development schedules
Coordinate with project requesters, and SMEs
Facilitate internal meetings
Collaborate with different members of the e-learning team to ensure milestones are met
The success of the Content Editor is measured through:
The quality of their individual output
Improvement of the overall quality of the team’s output
Adherence to agreed timelines outlined by the project lead/manager
Post-training learner survey scores
Project stakeholders’ satisfaction scores

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Professional Writing, English, Technical Writing, Communication Arts, Mass Communications, or any similar field.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Industry-recognized editorial certifications/designations are a plus.
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 1-2 years of working experience in the related field is required.*
Experience in writing and reviewing instructional materials is required.
Experience in any of the following fields is a big plus: training or education, marketing, e-learning, web, or tool design and development

Solid understanding of the English language
Excellent comprehension
Exemplary communication skills (written and oral)
Adaptable to new software and technology, such as media authoring tools and web apps
Excellent writing and editing skills, with an understanding of the special requirements of writing for instructional materials
Strong knowledge of how to apply and/or interpret information in print or online references (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style)
OTHER SKILLS
Technology literate; can easily work with new software (e.g., media authoring tools, office suite, and other web apps)
Demonstrated ability to interact with peers, management, and other departments in a professional manner.
